WHAT A RESPONCE!!!

MARAMARTH

Is a homebrew setting (fancy word meaning I created the world). Its a medieval style setting where magic is real, fantasy characters exist, and darkness and light are in conflict.

I’ve opened it up to fit the mechanics, characters and monsters from the DnD universe to fit within it - with some limitations. As we get further into the process you’ll learn more about the world and how things work.

HEY EVERYONE!!

I’ve been swamped with interest about this! I honestly expected a handful of replies, not a small army. About half of you have played DnD before, half haven’t, so here’s the lay of the land before I narrow the cast to six.

This will be a video podcast format where we’re sitting around a table playing Dungeons and Dragons! I’m SO excited! Filming in Salt Lake City.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR

  • People who will completely inhabit their characters

  • People who are willing to be vulnerable with their emotions

  • People who LOVE character driven stories

  • AND people who are willing to wear their nerd flag proudly and have fun!

This is a time commitment!

  • Right now we’re looking at shooting on four Sundays, within a 6 week (ish) period. Each shoot day will be six to eight hours long.

  • We’ll film two “episodes” (two-to-three-hour sessions) back-to-back with an hour in the middle to eat, stretch, decompress, and change shirts :). This is tentative, but we wont have a lot of wiggle room.

  • We’ll also schedule a Session Zero—one evening before we shoot—where we’ll meet, talk boundaries, house rules, and tie everyone’s backstories together.

  • ADDITIONAL TIME COMMITMENT - BUILDING YOUR CHARACTER:

    • CHARACTER SHEET - Use DnDBeyond (it’s free). If you’re new, I’ll hop on a Zoom call and walk you through the clicks.

    • CHARACTER BACKSTORY - Bring me at least a seed of a backstory—one goal, one fear, maybe a hometown rumor. We’ll bolt that into the world together and keep it as simple or poetic as you like.

    • CHARACTER LOOK - Once the concept is set, we’ll sketch your look. I’ll turn that sketch into a custom 3-D printed miniature you can use on-screen and take home.

    • STUDY YOUR CHARACTER SHEET - Learn your characters tricks before game day: know how many spells you can sling, how your sneak attack works, and so on. Ask me anything you want or need, there are no dumb questions!

Stuff to bring

  • Real dice—one basic set is fine (they’re anywhere from $7 to $1000 if you want).

  • A laptop or tablet for your digital character sheet; phones are a last resort because they read as “texting” on camera.

  • Soft clothes, no giant logos, and please keep table clatter down (felt dice trays welcome).

THE VIBE AT THE TABLE - D&D works best when everyone shares the spotlight. Think of it as group storytelling: YOU control YOUR own character’s words and actions, while respecting everyone else’s. Focus on supporting the scene, not stealing it. We’ll also set clear comfort boundaries before we start so no one feels put on the spot while we’re filming.

Ask me anything

DnD is a huge and massive game and you’ll surely have lots of questions, there are an insane amount of resources out there but don’t hesitate to ask me anything.

I’ve only been playing for a year or two so likely we’ll be learning together!

If you’re still in after all that!

fill in the form and I’ll each out with more details as the process moves forward
